Whether you’re planning an engagement, wedding, or portrait session, here are some great places to consider in and around Toronto.

Osgoode Hall

This stunning 1800s historic building boasts colorful manicured gardens, cobblestone pathways, and ornate iron fencing. No permit is required, but be sure there are no scheduled events or filming.

Knox College:

This charming campus features old architecture and beautifully landscaped grounds, though use is limited to certain areas. A permit costs $120 for non-alumni and $60 for alumni.

Casa Loma:

This famous castle provides a spectacular setting and access to the conservatory, terrace, and gardens. A permit costs $800 for 2 hours, depending on the time of day.

Distillery District

This historic distillery was built in 1832 and features cobblestone streets, narrow alleyways, and old brick buildings, making for a unique backdrop. A permit costs $250 and must be picked up at PIKTO.

The Old Mill

This historic building boasts a beautiful waterfall and landscaped gardens, but permission is normally required. You can take pictures only if the wedding ceremony takes place here.

Union Station

This opulent train station has fascinating old architecture, both inside and out. A permit costs $150.

Edward Gardens

This location is similar to James Gardens but larger, with a fountain and a staircase. A permit costs $50-$100 per hour.

Cherry Beach

Situated on Lake Ontario’s east end, this beach features wooded areas, a boardwalk, and a sandy beach. No permit is required.

 

Humber Bridge

Located on Lake Ontario’s west end, this location features a sandy beach, parkland, and trees, and walkways. No permit is required.

 

Alexander Muir Gardens

Situated next to a ravine, this location boasts beautiful sunken gardens, treed walkways, benches, stone wall, and stairs. A permit costs $80.

 

Guild Park and Gardens

This location, situated near the Scarborough Bluffs, features one-of-a-kind statues and columns taken from downtown Toronto at the turn of the century. Call for permit information.

 

Hart House

This location boasts a beautiful courtyard, grounds, and Gothic style architecture. A permit costs $400 for a 2-hour photography session. No permit is required if a wedding is held at Hart House.

 

Glendon College

This location features beautiful rose gardens, treed pathways, an old manor, and stone walkways. A permit is required.

 

Mint Room Studios

This photography studio in Toronto features six different studios, each with a unique interior design and decor suitable for all types of photoshoots. Rates are $95 per hour from 8:00 am-8:00 pm and $195 per hour from 8:00 pm-8:00 am.

 

Black Creek Pioneer Village

This fully restored rural Ontario 19th-century village requires a permit. Call for more information.

 

Sunnyside Park & Pavilion

Situated on Lake Ontario, this location features beaches, late 1800s architecture, iron gates, a courtyard with a fountain, treed areas, and a boardwalk. A permit costs $40 per hour (for up to 20 people).
